Pointe Shoe Sizes?

by Shayla
(Illinois)

Okay, I have Capezio Glisse shoes (which are dying) and the box I got them in says its an eur 7 w.

I don't know if thats my size because I tried on these russian pointes that are 3s and they fit, maybe a little small.

I don't know my pointe shoes size and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shayla,

Understanding all the different shoe size numbers can be confusing. I used to keep a list of my specific shoes and what size they were so I didn't have to try to remember.

Many pointe shoes, like Russian Pointes use European sizing. Store owners often use a conversion chart to convert your street shoe size into a pointe shoe size.

Capezio, Bloch, Gaynor Minden and others use "American" sizing (6, 6.5, 7...). Even then many say they fit 1-2 sizes bigger or smaller than your street shoe size.

Your box is misleading you. There really isn't a Euro size 7. But you might be an American size 7.

If you are around a 7 in your Capezios than you're probably between a 36-38 in Russian Pointes. Start there, but always be ready to try on shoes until you find the right fit!

Good Luck!!
