Dance Gifts

Get dance gifts that real dancers want to receive!

Young Dancers (3-8)

These guys are so easy because as long as it is pink and sparkly they usually love it. I would stay away from gifts that they can break, like posters and aim for anything that they can play dress up in.

Like:

Play tiara
Set of tutus (so they can play with their friends)
Fairy wings
Satin slippers (so they don't ruin their class pair)
Pink ballet bag for all their stuff

Other fool-proof ideas:

Ballet Barbie (find the set with a movie, barre and step chart!)
Ballet bear at build a bear (she can pick out the bears outfit and shoes and give it a tiara)
Ballet Step by Step (a cute book teaching ballet terms)
Sticker set and/or coloring books

Tween Dancers (9-13)

Because these guys are trying to prove that they are growing up now, they don't want the kind of gift you'd give to the young dancers. No dress up. No cute stuffed ballerina dolls.

They are starting to define who they are and being a dancer is a big part of that. It is important to tweens that their environment reflect who they want to be. If you can give them something to help accomplish that, they will love it.

So for tweens you are generally safe giving practical gifts that say dance on them.

Like:

Wall hangings
Shirts/shorts (any clothing really as long as it says Dance)
Posters and pictures
Dance bed pillow
Dance words and shoes key chain

Mature Dancers (15 and up)

By this time they are feeling more confident about their identity as a dancer and so have less need to prove it with "dance" stuff.

Instead look for gifts that help them reach their goals. I always loved getting money or gift cards specifically for dance clothes and shoes. Dancers wear through their stuff so fast and often don't have the cash to replace it quickly. Get mature dancers gifts that help them live their passion.

Like:

The Ballet Combination Book (250 combinations, great for teachers)
iTunes card (especially if they teach)
Dance wear gift card
The Turnout Book
Dance workout DVD

Other fun gifts are dance movies . My husband knows that building my dance movie library is always a winner dance gift.

Other Fun ideas:

Dance movies (current or classic)
Nice piece of art (something that will last, like a statue or Degas print)
Tickets for the local dance company
