Capezio Sizing Their Pointe Shoe Styles

My daughter is currently wearing a Plie II and likes the fit of the shoe---especially the vamp. She prefers a low to medium vamp. However, she has strong feet and we are finding that the shank is not going to last very long.

We are thinking of trying the Tiffany in a hard shank but cannot get them locally. Is the sizing on the Tiffany the same as the Plie II?

Hi!

Great question.

The sizes are similar, (actually the Tiffany has bigger sizes available than the Plie II) but the Tiffany is made from a different last (mold) than the Pile.

I would start with the size your daughter has warn in the Plie II, just know that the Tiffany is going to fit more narrowly through the toe and heel. Definitely allow time to return the shoes if needed.

Now might also be a great time to try a different brand. Have you considered Gaynor Mindens? They are a bit controversial (talk to her teacher) but the shanks are very strong. You might also consider a Freed. The Studio Pro has a hard shank option.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
